This is how I LOST over 35lbs in just weeks!
How to lose weight? That is the question. It is so easy to get caught up in the fast pace of just living and sometimes taking care of ourselves for the long term can be pushed to the back burner. Everyone has heard the phrase ‘Exercise and Eat Right’ when it comes to losing weight. However, when you are working full-time, have children or have some traumatic experience you can’t mentally shake…it’s just very easy to forget the basics. I not only forgot the basics of maintaining a healthy weight it actually took an article (and a few videos) like this to help figure out what I was doing wrong.
These are the changes I made to lose weight after reading everything I could find on weight loss. I came across different diets, meditations, exercises, hypnosis, etc… and weighed the pros and cons of the information I gathered. The truth is, we are all very different and what works for one person will not work for everyone.
The first thing I recognized is that you only get temporary results when using extreme tactics like starving or supplements. I changed my behavior and made better choices. I cut out the gas station pizza, candy bars, and other treats you find during check-out at the store. Any food I bought on the run had to be real food such as nuts, boiled eggs, basic salads, and sometimes coffee.
The second change had to do with movement. I just started walking for at least 30 minutes every day when I could make time. At first, it was leisurely and gradually became power walks, go figure. It seems the more you move the more you want to move. I slowly increased my walks to 45 minutes...
The third adjustment had me eating even better and a lot less. I wasn’t losing weight fast enough. That is when I stumbled upon a modified Atkins diet and learned how to lose fat. Today, I now recognize it as the Ketogenic Diet. I stopped eating processed carbs and sugars and any other non-Keto-friendly foods. The biggest challenge was fighting the cravings and after a week or so of low to no-carbs, they just went away. I naturally ate a lot less and less often. The weight loss increased and at around four weeks, I’d lost 20 to 25 pounds.
This fourth change made the most difference to me and I lost even more weight. That is when I stumbled upon this Keto guru that suggested combining healthy eating with intermittent fasting. Fasting is all about self-discipline and without the cravings it just isn’t that difficult. The basic idea is to stop eating for long periods of time. In the next few weeks, I lost another 15 pounds by fasting for about 16 hours daily. There are so many other things to do besides eat.
The fifth thing I did (still do) was to find healthy recipes for all the foods I thought I had to do without. I found blueberry pancakes made with almond flour, delicious cookies, cupcakes, etc. made with healthy fats and no sugars.
All in all, I went back to the basics of Exercising and Eating Right foods along with practicing some self-control. I eat better foods, in smaller amounts and less often.
